UNIVERSITIES – A VEHICLE FOR INNOVATION IN THE BALTIC SEA REGION

The creation of an integrated and innovative region around the Baltic Sea has been an important priority by individual countries and at EU level. The opportunities for making the region an attractive knowledge hub where new innovative solutions are developed and tested are high on the political strategic agenda. This is not least underlined by The European Council which will meet on October 29 – 30 to decide on ”The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region” including an action plan.

The Consortium BALTECH in co-operation with KTH Business Liaison is pleased to announce a conference on the 2nd of December 2009 on how universities around the Baltic Sea Region are working with commercialization and technology transfer in order to stimulate innovation in companies and organizations. Participants are people working with commerzialisation within the Baltic Sea Region at universities and in industri, for example SIDA, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and Vinnova.

The conference will present and discuss different cases and approaches to successful university-industry interaction in both education and research in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
