Projects

BALTECH has the objective to promote joint research projects, especially in interdisciplinary fields.

In 2011 Baltech submitted an ERASMUS Project application with KTH, KTU, RTU and TUT participating in cooperation with four industrial partners, one from each country. The name of the project is “Sharing Engineering Knowhow of Enterprises in the Baltic Sea Region for Improving Quality of Education in Local Universities of Technology” (SEKBU).

The main goal of the project was to create an Industry-Academia partnership in order to share the existing know-how in specific engineering field focusing on the description of industrial processes through multimedia technology.

The foreseen results of the project:

  1. Enhanced cooperation between enterprises, universities, secondary education institutes and policy makers (better understanding of the respective needs and approaches)
  2. Manual for the production of the videos
  3. Flexible and generally applicable video formats for production teams with sample questionnaires for the teachers
  4. Production of videos (1-4 videos produced by each partner university) on specific scientific field combined with a related industrial production process
  5. A video content repository and web portal for distributing of videos stored in repository
  6. Manual for the pedagogical use of the videos

European Commission evaluated the application and rejected it.
